Former Trump Lawyer John Dowd: ‘No Reason for the President to Answer Questions from Mueller’

Former Trump lawyer John Dowd made a rare TV appearance today on Fox & Friends months after leaving the President’s legal team.

In talking about the CNN-Lanny Davis fracas, Dowd told the Fox hosts, “It’s indicative of what the president has had to put up with with all the manufactured information and the false testimony and false statements, et cetera. I don’t know how he does it. He’s put up with it for over a year, it’s a great burden on the presidency.”

Brian Kilmeade asked Dowd about Robert Mueller and his past optimism that “if you were compliant, provided the documents, he’d end quickly.”

Dowd claimed that Mueller had told them that “the best way to get this done was to engage.”

Katie Pavlich asked whether he thinks President Donald Trump “will eventually sit down with Bob Mueller.”

“There’s no reason for the President to answer questions from Mueller,” Dowd said. “Mueller has all the answers, we gave him all the answers.”

Steve Doocy asked, “What’s taking him so long then?”

“I don’t know,” Dowd said. “I think––I’m afraid I’ve just lost all respect for Bob ’cause he didn’t keep his word. He should have declined this case back in November at the latest… He’s the one that asked for the witnesses, he’s the one that asked for the documents. He told us that everybody told the truth. He told us he didn’t need any more documents.”
