Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. told Fox & Friends Thursday morning that the group of ten top physicians who called upon Columbia to remove Dr. Mehmet Oz as vice-chair of the Department of Surgery had no business impugning Oz’s reputation.
“This is a witch hunt,” Johnson said. “I find it offensive to the First Amendment, everything we stand for as Americans, that we have these folks — some of them who, in my opinion may be quacks themselves — to say, ‘Fire him, Columbia.’ Who the heck are they?”
The physicians accuse Oz of an “egregious lack of integrity” following his hawking of miracle diet cures that has previously earned him congressional scrutiny. Oz responded in a show taped Tuesday but scheduled to air tonight that he will “not be silenced,” which is always a great line when said by someone with an audience of 2 million.
“He cannot be destroyed by the medical-industrial complex in this country,” Johnson said. “There are conspiracies sometimes in medicine. He should not be the victim of one of those.”
