Brian Kilmeade Battles Stuart Varney Over ‘Disaster’ China Trade Talks: Mnuchin Caved ‘Like a Cheap Suit!’
Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade trashed Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin over the latest U.S.-China trade negotiations, calling him a “disaster” who caved “like a cheap suit.”
Mnuchin announced on Sunday that the U.S. would be suspended its plan to impose steep tariffs on China, in a bid to ease tensions ahead of trade negotiations. The move has been seen as a win for China, which was vague in its commitments and did not give up any new concessions.
Kilmeade battled it out Monday morning with Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney, who gushed over the new negotiations.
“Steve Mnuchin is a disaster on trade,” Kilmeade announced, “and more on this, is Stuart Varney.”
“What!?” a flustered Varney responded.
“Steve Mnuchin should not be leading these trade negotiations, he’s caving like a cheap suit,” Kilmeade said. “He left his trade team, and left America out to dry.”
Varney contended that there never was a trade war between the U.S. and China, but instead a “longterm negotiation.”
“And now we’ve got a truce,” Varney said, to which Kilmeade shot back, “a truce works for them.”
Varney said that China had committed to buying more goods from the United States.
“Wow, soybeans,” Kilmeade replied. “Thanks.”
“I want intellectual property theft to stop,” Kilmeade continued, “and he doesn’t even know what he’s doing!”
“And China’s winning,” he added.
