Fox & Friends Guest: Sheriff Arpaio Would be ‘Murdered’ in Jail, Should Receive Medal of Freedom Instead
President Donald Trump‘s favorite morning news program is keeping up its outrageous antics, as a Fox & Friends guest suggested that Sheriff Joe Arapio, who was found guilty of criminal contempt, should not only be pardoned, but also receive the Medal of Freedom.
Doug Wead, a conservative commentator and writer, explained his reasoning to Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy — and most likely the president:
“This is a tragedy, what’s happened to him. He should be in the East Room of the White House getting the [Presidential] Medal of Freedom put around his neck. Not sent to prison to be assassinated and murdered, which is what would happen… The only reason Joe Arpaio got this charge, and it wasn’t tried by a jury; it was a leftist judge — is because he supported Donald Trump for president.”
Wead went on to say that Trump pardoning Arapio would be in line with similar precedents set by former administrations.
The disgraced ex-sheriff was convicted last month for breaking a directive focused on putting a stop to detainments based solely on an individual’s perceived immigration status. While speaking at a Phoenix, Arizona campaign rally, Trump all but guaranteed that Arpaio will be pardoned for his crime, saying “So, was Sheriff Joe convicted for doing his job?… I’ll make a prediction. I think he’s going to be just fine, OK?”
Trump claimed he has not yet pardoned Arpaio because it would cause too much controversy at this time — however, reports suggest that a pardon is prepped and ready for the president’s signature.
