On Wednesday, the hosts of Fox & Friends played a clip of a speech that CNN anchor John King delivered at the John F. Kennedy presidential library on Tuesday in which he called into question some of his network’s recent programming decisions. King said the network’s dayside is stale and broadcasts news that the viewer can get from other venues. The Fox News hosts noted that, given King’s statement, the CNN’s new management has their work cut out for them.
“CNN’s John King says you don’t need to watch the network he works for anymore,” said Gretchen Carlson.
“You watch CNN 9 o’clock in the morning, 10 o’clock in the morning, 11 o’clock in the morning, 12 o’clock – It’s the same,” King told an audience in Boston, Massachusetts, on Tuesday. “It’s a single anchor sitting in a chair reading headlines that none of you have turn on the TV to get.”
“Maybe he was talking about the changes that they need to make,” Carlson guessed.
“He was pretty clear: you don’t need to watch,” Steve Doocy observed. “Nothing’s going on. All the same.”
“So, Jeff Zucker’s got his work cut out for him over there as he takes over at CNN,” he concluded.
