Fox & Friends Not Happy With Nike’s Colin Kaepernick Ad: ‘Should Put Jesus On There’
Frequent viewers of Fox & Friends know that the top-rated cable morning show is a safe place for Christian viewers. Today was no exception as the outrage topic du jour was Nike’s new advertisement that features former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Co-host Brian Kilmeade introduced the segment by showing a snippet of the ad that featured Kaepernick before introducing guest and former professional basketball player Brock Gillespie.
The entirety of the Nike spot focuses on sacrifices made by aspiring athletes who went on to great success, but it was Gillespie that suggested Nike should have opted for divine intervention, saying “if they want to make an ad about sacrificing why don’t they go all the way. If this is Nike put Jesus on there.”
Kaepernick cuts a controversial figure since he started the trend of NFL players protesting the alleged and troubling trend of police unfairly treating subjects of color by kneeling during the national anthem. Kilmeade ended the segment on an anti-Kilmeade jeremiad which defended the great and real sacrifice that American police officers face every day they do their job.
