Fox & Friends’ Steve Doocy Hears Trump Will ‘Take Anything in the Twos’ For Border Wall Funding

Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy broke some news on Friday morning when he revealed that, according to his sources, President Donald Trump’s request for more than $5 billion dollars to fund a border wall is only a high-bar negotiation tactic, and that he “will take anything in the twos.”

As the historically long U.S. government shutdown enters its third week over the Trump administration’s insistence that U.S. Congress fund the border wall, the political stalemate as led to real-world consequences and complaints from non-essential government employees like FBI, TSA and Border Patrol agents.

But according to Doocy, Trump would take any Democratic congressional offer that was two billion or higher.

Given Fox & Friends very cozy relationship with the White House, and that Deputy Communications Director Bill Shine oversaw Fox News programming as recently as a year and a half ago, it is completely reasonable to think that Doocy’s reporting is not just very well sourced, but perhaps floated to send a signal that Democrats can wrap this up with a much lesser number.

Some may see this as a savvy negotiating tactic, while others will see it as an act of desperation. Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer have little political motivation to change their zero-negotiation position, particularly since Trump opened this political stalemate by owning the government shutdown in a televised Oval Office meeting that kicked this whole thing off.
