Fox Host Knocks Sen. Burr Over Don Jr. Subpoena: Why Doesn’t He Just ‘Come Out as a Democrat?’

Senator Richard Burr, the Republican chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has been getting criticism for his committee’s subpoena to Donald Trump Jr., including from fellow congressional Republicans.

On Fox News’ Outnumbered today, Lisa Boothe asked why the matter “isn’t closed” for Burr, even though Mitch McConnell said this week it’s time to move on.

David Webb, Fox News contributor and host of Fox Nation’s Reality Check, said, “I have no idea. Why doesn’t Richard Burr just come out as a Democrat? Let’s call it what it is. If you look at his history, this is someone who clearly falls more along the liberal line than the conservative line.”

He suggested maybe some members of Congress need a “Mueller Report for Dummies.”

“It takes a little while to read 400 pages, but apparently Senate intelligence staffers are not reading and given the right briefs,” Webb added. “This is politics.”

Kennedy said there may very well be nothing there, but if they did find a problem with one of his statements, “then he has to answer for that.”

“Mitch McConnell can kill this,” Webb said. “Mitch McConnell should kill this subpoena… I don’t know if if you will, but he should. It’s time. We have governance, we have business to do with.”
