Fox News’ Alan Colmes Urges Readers To Thank The Liberals In Upcoming Book

For all of us, I will say in advance: You’re welcome.

Hay House has announced that it will publish Thank The Liberals**For Saving America, the latest tome from liberal Fox News contributor and radio host Alan Colmes, on August 27. Thank The Liberals is Colmes’ second book, and his first since 2003’s Red, White, and Liberal: How Left Is Right And Right Is Wrong.

From Hay House’s press release:

In Thank the Liberals, readers will find Colmes’ trademark wit and political savvy as he outlines the liberal ideas that have sculpted America and lays out where our country should go from here. Starting with the argument that our nation was founded on liberal ideas and following the progression of attitudes and policies through the years, Colmes clearly articulates how people who support liberal ideas are directly contributing to the betterment of America. He also makes the case, sure to get some hackles up, that all Americans are actually liberal. Thank the Liberals delves into past and present fights between liberal progressives and conservative “regressives,” as Colmes brands them, showing how liberalism translates into a successful map for maintaining America’s position as a beacon of freedom and democracy for the rest of the world.

Like any so-called “Fox News Democrat,” Colmes takes a lot of grief from folks on his own side of the political divide (in addition to the abuse you’d expect from the right), but if Red, White, and Liberal is any indication, Colmes’ second book will be a valuable primer for those Thanksgiving Dinner arguments with your Fox News-obsessed uncle.

I read Colmes’ first book while it was still in hardcover, long before I got into this business, and found it to be refreshingly snark-free and accessible. There is a place for diatribe and hyperbole, but Colmes’ writing is more like that of an emissary for liberalism. Readers could come away from reading Red, White, and Liberal realizing that they’re more liberal than they thought they were, or with a better understanding of why they are liberals, or at the very least, with a better understanding of liberals. From the sound of it, Thank The Liberals figures to do the same trick.
