Fox News Proves Decisively That Interviewing Someone Underwater Isn’t Exactly The Best Idea

You really have to feel for everyone involved in this segment. Due to budget cuts, the Aquarius Reef Base, the world’s last undersea research laboratory, is in danger of being shut down. So, wisely, they’re using the media to show what a loss this would be. And, when Fox News booked the base’s Sylvia Earle, an expert in her field, everyone must have thought it was a great idea for her to do her entire interview while swimming deep underwater with the base behind her.

“That’d look so cool!” they must have thought. “You get great TV. We get great exposure. Everyone wins!”

Unfortunately, no one seemed to question whether or not viewers at home would be able to understand a single word Earle said. Oops.

In case you missed the most important elements of Jenna Lee’s interview with Earle, I’ve got a transcript:

“BUBBLE BUBBLE GURGLE. BUBBLE BUBBLE the sea BUBBLE BUBBLE research GURGLE BUBBLE BUBBLE very important BUBBLE BUBBLE BUBBLE.”

You all got that, right?
