Fox News Repeats Blatantly False Rudy Giuliani Tweet About Chicago Murders Without Correction

After former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani pushed false Chicago crime numbers as real, Fox News presented his misleading statistics as fact and did not correct them on-air.

“We didn’t see a lot from Rudy Giuliani, the president’s lawyer, over the weekend but we heard from him via Twitter and he weighed in on what is happening in [Chicago],” Fox News anchor Sandra Smith during today’s airing of America’s Newsroom.

She proceeded to read of Giuliani’s false tweet without adding any correction, despite not only having reported the correct numbers several times in the segment, but doing so while their own chyron had the correct numbers displayed right below the screenshot of his tweet.

“63 murders this weekend in Rahm Emmanuel’s Chicago. His legacy more murders in his city than ever before. It’s only because of Democrat brain washing that he has even a chance of remaining. Support police professional Garry McCarthy.”

Giuliani has been tweeting constantly about Chicago — a city that serves as Republicans’ go-to talking point for their “black-on-black crime” narrative, as well as proof that gun control doesn’t work — to help Garry McCarthy’s mayoral run against Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

However, his 63 murder tweet is wildly wrong. Fox News itself has reported that 63 people were shot — not murdered — while, in fact, ten were killed. Additionally, the Chicago Tribune reports the violence as 73 shooting victims and 11 deaths.

Giuliani has yet to correct the mistake.
