Fox News Reporter Swipes at Kamala Harris For Making ‘Political Statement’ While Visiting Troops

Sen. Kamala Harris toured marine base Camp Pendleton earlier this week, and took aim at President Donald Trump for deploying the U.S. military to the southern border with Mexico — in what she said was a stunt to justify his caravan fear-mongering.

“I believe that it is inappropriate to require the limited resources of the US military to be used in such way,” the California Democrat told reporters. “These folks that are being deployed there — they’ve left their families. They will not be home for Thanksgiving and all because there needed to be some demonstration for the TV cameras based on a political agenda instead of what is a national security threat.”

Fox & Friends had on pro-Trump social media personalities Diamond & Silk to react, and safe to say they did not approve. “This is not a political stunt. What this is is the president trying to protect our borders,” Diamond said.

Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins, who has been covering the caravan’s trip through Mexico for the network, pointed out that Harris’ comments came while she was visiting a military base — and asked if the two social media users found that inappropriate.

“Senator Harris went to Camp Pendleton, one the largest marine bases in our country. And, yet, she made a political statement questioning the deployment itself,” Jenkins said. “Do you have a problem with that?”

“Why is she even a senator in the first place?” Diamond replied.

Meanwhile, in Donald Trump‘s Thanksgiving call with US service members the president struck a political tone as well, airing his latest grievances against the 9th circuit and the migrant caravan.
