Fox’s Chris Wallace Says White House Can’t ‘Spin’ a Split Election: ‘Bad Night’ if Trump ‘Loses the House’

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace gave his analysis of the upcoming midterm elections, and said if Democrats take the House, there will be “no way” for the White House to spin Tuesday as a win.

“I have to laugh a little bit at the idea that if the election ends up being split, that the White House is going to spin it as ‘Trump is the savior of the Senate’ — No, he will have lost the House,” Wallace said. “And there’s no way they’ll be able to spin it as anything other than that.”

“He’s done a good job, he’s mobilized the base, I think he’s done very well in a lot of these close Senate races, and may actually add to his majority,” Wallace continued. “But if he loses the House, it’s going to have been a bad night for the president.”

Current forecasts indicate Democrats will take the House while Republicans hold the Senate, but there remain chances for big upsets in key races. According to FiveThirtyEight, Democrats have a 7/8 chance of winning the House, while Republicans have a 5/6 chance of holding onto the Senate. Democrats also look poised to win the majority of governorships up for grabs.
