Last night, Don Lemon kicked off CNN Tonight by literally holding up a sign displaying the n-word, uncensored. Almost all the hosts of Fox News’ The Five weren’t particularly pleased with the segment––Juan Williams, the most offended, called it a “disgraceful stunt”––but Eric Bolling jumped to Lemon’s defense.
Bolling called Lemon a close friend who’s “provocative” and knows how to get a conversation going. Williams was just really put off by the “gratuitous use of this word to provoke people, to attract ratings.”
Kimberly Guilfoyle said it wasn’t helpful and didn’t further the dialogue, but Bolling was insistent that as long as people continue to talk about the n-word as if it has such colossal power, then it will continue to have that power.
