Fox’s Howard Kurtz Defends Spicer from ‘Media Mob’: Do They Want Him to ‘Wear a Scarlet Letter’?

Fox News’ Howard Kurtz defended Sean Spicer tonight following the huge backlash to his appearance at the Emmys last night.

Stephen Colbert brought Spicer on for a joke referencing that infamous moment when he got heated with reporters while making a false claim about the inauguration crowd size.

A lot of people didn’t like that this moment was being played for laughs, while Spicer himself said today he “absolutely” regrets it.

Kurtz told Bret Baier tonight that the “media mob” is “tarring and feathering him over what was a joke, as if he should never be able to show his face in public again or tell a joke.”

He added, “It’s almost like his detractors want him to wear a scarlet letter.”

Juan Williams, who said Spicer’s a friend, argued that there are “legitimate questions” here about Spicer being embraced by the “elites.”
