Fox’s Hume: Trump Should Stop Personal Attacks on Other GOPers, It May Backfire
The other Republican presidential candidates have been rather measured in their critiques of Donald Trump‘s comments on immigration. Trump has responded in kind, sticking to the facts and not engaging in any kind of personal attacks whatsoever.
Just kidding, he’s insulting the lot of them.
He’s previously dismissed some of the candidates as “zeroes” who don’t deserve to be on the debate stage as much as he does, and yesterday, he tweeted that Rick Perry “needs a new pair of glasses.” Oh, and there was that whole thing about retweeting some comment saying, “Jeb Bush has to like the Mexican illegals because of his wife.”
Fox News’ Brit Hume tonight said that Trump being so “scathing” against other candidates isn’t helpful.”
“In a race against candidates,” he explained, “whose supporters you would like to have support you later on, it’s fine to disagree on the issues but unwise to mount personal attacks. People may forgive a disagreement on issues and policies, but they’re less likely to back on a candidate who personally insulted the one who was earlier their first choice.”
