Fox’s Jessica Tarlov Blames NY Times For Costing Hillary Clinton 2016 Election By Taking ‘Unnecessary Shots At Democrats’

Fox News host Jessica Tarlov blamed The New York Times for Hillary Clinton’s loss in the 2016 election, pointing to the paper’s coverage of her email scandal.

During a Friday episode of Outnumbered on Fox News, the panel discussed a recent tweet from Nate Silver chastising those who see the role of the New York Times as covering stories that help Democrats.

Tarlov argued that despite a belief by some on the right that liberals idolize the Times and other national papers, there’s actually a feeling among many on the left that they are guilty of covering negative stories about Democrats in an effort to draw an audience. She pointed to the Times’s coverage of Clinton’s email scandal as well as the Uranium One controversy.

Tarlov claimed outlets like the Times are seen by liberals as taking “unnecessary shots at Democrats” due to the “need for clickbait.” Fellow Fox News panelist Harris Faulkner pushed back on Tarlov’s comments by arguing Clinton was responsible for her actions.

TARLOV: There’s a big misconception about me and my fellow liberal [pause] pals that, we, you know, go home and we pray to the New York Times or the Washington Post, and we have tattoos that say “Democracy Dies in Darkness.” The truth of the matter is, is that the New York Times was responsible for Hillary Clinton losing the 2016 election. The server story came from there, and the Uranium One story came from there.

FAULKNER: Wouldn’t it be her actions that were responsible?

TARLOV: Well, no, because it ended up that she didn’t do it. That’s the that’s the problem with it. So there is a overwhelming feeling on the left that because of the need for clickbait and to keep people engaged and keep people watching and tuning in, that people are taking unnecessary shots at Democrats.
