First Megyn Kelly tells Dick Cheney he was wrong about Iraq. Now, Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano is saying he agrees with the stated views of Vice President Joe Biden on how to handle sectarian violence in that country.
Shortly after Obama delivered his press briefing on the matter, Fox’s Gretchen Carlson asked Napolitano point blank, “Do you agree or disagree with what the president announced he’s going to do about Iraq?”
After an extended pause, Napolitano replied, “If I were advising the president, I would advise him to do nothing about Iraq.” Though Obama has said he will not be deploying combat troops to Iraq, Napolitano accused him of “attempting to affect the outcome of ancient religious rivalries between the Shia, the Sunnis and the Kurds.”
But there was another member of the Obama administration with whom Napolitano could agree. “I have never agreed with Joe Biden in my life,” he said. “But in this respect, the vice president, in my view presents a very, very sound solution.
He was referring to a 2006 op-ed penned by then Senator Biden that argued for the division of Iraq into three separate autonomous regions. While Biden was “laughed at” when he first suggested that solution, Napolitano said it could now be the best possible outcome.
