Fox’s Kurtz to O’Reilly: Press Turning on Obama Because It’s ‘In Thing to Do’
Bill O’Reilly has noticed that the press corps has been a lot tougher on President Obama and Josh Earnest these days. Jonathan Karl and Ed Henry alone get really combative with Earnest on a daily basis. But aside from those two, O’Reilly told Howard Kurtz tonight that the press corps’ heart isn’t in it.
He charged that the press is only being “forced” to go after Obama because of the ISIS beheadings. Kurtz explained that the press is trying to hold Obama accountable, but only because it’s “the in thing to do” these days. And why is this the case? Because Obama’s unpopular, and that’s when the press begins to circle the wagons.
Kurtz said the press has been a lot tougher since Obama’s reelection, and is getting tired of all the “excuses,” but O’Reilly said there’s still a tone being set by editors and higher-ups at these news organizations that shows they’re incredibly reluctant to go after the president this way.
