Fox’s Megyn Kelly Beat O’Reilly in Demo for Full Week — The First Time Ever
After less than a year on Fox News at 9 p.m. ET, Megyn Kelly has bested Bill O’Reilly in the weekly 25-54 demo ratings. Last week, The Kelly File averaged 413K viewers in the demo to The O’Reilly Factor’s 402K. O’Reilly was still on top in total viewers with 2.528M to Kelly’s 2.434M.
Kelly managed to beat O’Reilly in the demo on four of the five weeknights and even took the #1 spot in total viewers for all of cable news on Thursday night. While The Kelly File did beat The O’Reilly Factor in the demo during one week in May, O’Reilly himself was out that week so this marks the first time she has come out on top in a head-to-head match up.
Her show was buoyed by multiple appearances from platoon-mates of U.S. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was released from Taliban captivity last weekend. On Thursday, six of those soldiers sat down for a panel interview with Kelly in which they insisted Bergdahl should not be considered a “hero.”
Earlier in the week, Kelly made news by informing Annette Bosworth, a candidate in the South Dakota GOP’s senate primary, that she had lost her primary bid live on air. “I didn’t know that,” Bosworth said after Kelly told her the news. “I found out on national television.”
