Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano told a surprised Gretchen Carslon that Republican governors have no say in rejecting Syrian refugees from coming into their states.
Lots and lots of governors have made it clear they won’t allow refugees to come to their states, but Napolitano said the law isn’t on their side.
He cited a statute that gives the president unlimited authority to accept refugees for humanitarian reasons and said no governor, even the ones running for president, can stop them.
Napolitano said they have to provide social services, public schools, emergency rooms, etc. to refugees if they end up in their states.
So basically, he said, the only way governors might get a win here is if the White House decides to give in to the huge political pressure not in their favor.
