CNN isn’t the only network sending reporters out to New Orleans for live coverage of Hurricane Isaac. Fox News’ Shepard Smith — shown here covering Katrina seven years ago — will make the trip to Louisiana, where he’ll be anchoring both Fox Report with Shepard Smith and Studio B tomorrow and, depending on how the storm unfolds, potentially longer into the week.
Smith received praised for his tireless coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the devastation it left in its wake after slamming into New Orleans seven years ago this Wednesday. In fact, Smith discussed his experience covering the storm and its aftermath at a very candid panel event in DC a couple of years ago, where he shared that, “This is why we got into this business in the first place, to inform…it was a very heady thing to know the government was getting information from you,” adding that, “Every level failed and everybody lied to us.”
You might recall that Smith was also sent to New Orleans to cover Hurricane Gustav during the 2008 RNC convention.
