One of the big disputes between former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson and Roger Ailes‘ legal team is her ratings success hosting her own show.
In response to her sexual harassment lawsuit, Ailes claimed that “this is a retaliatory suit for the network’s decision not to renew her contract, which was due to the fact that her disappointingly low ratings were dragging down the afternoon lineup.”
Carlson’s team fired back that she did well in the ratings and consistently beat her competitors.
Whatever the case, one thing is very clear: this controversy is doing wonders for her former show The Real Story.
The show has been run by guest hosts since last week and it was its highest-rated week ever, with an average of 1.7 million viewers and 292K in the 25-54 demo. (Those numbers are higher than what a lot of CNN and MSNBC shows do in primetime.)
And if you look at the whole period of time since Carlson left Fox, The Real Story has averaged 1.46 million viewers and 239K in the demo.
