During several hours on Friday afternoon and evening, as Pope Francis I made his way through New York City, CNN came out ahead of Fox News in the 25-54 demo. At 5 p.m. ET, CNN’s coverage beat Fox’s, 248K to 210K. Then again from 7-9 p.m., CNN also topped Fox in the demo while Fox remained in first place in total viewers. CNN’s live coverage at 10 p.m. also beat a taped special on Fox.
Overall in primetime, Fox News managed to just edge out CNN in the demo, 252K to 247K.
