Funny or Die to Aaron Sorkin: The Newsroom Is ‘Not the Greatest Show on TV’

As Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom gears up for the final episode of its second season, and with a third season up in the air, now is the perfect time for this stellar Funny or Die parody to come along and remind the world about everything that’s wrong with the show. The video reflects the opening scene of the series in which Jeff Daniels’ Will McAvoy explained why America is not the greatest country in the world.

Here, a McAvoy stand-in answers a similar question about The Newsroom.

“It’s not the greatest show on TV, that’s my answer. Fine, everyone loves witty banter, but you can’t build a show on an actor’s ability to cram as many words into as few seconds as Sorkin-ly possible. And you’re gonna sit there with a straight face and tell me that The Newsroom is so star-spangled awesome that it’s the only show in the world with whip-smart dialogue? Sherlock has dialogue. Gilmore Girls has dialogue. House, Veronica Mars, even Buffy the Vampire Slayer has a zinger every now and again.”

And it only gets more brutal from there…
