Gen. James Clapper: ‘Appalling Arrogance’ for Trump to Say He Knows More About ISIS than the Generals

James Clapper is not just the former Director of National Intelligence under both Clinton and Obama administrations, but the frequent Trump critic is also a retired Lieutenant General who served with great honor.

He also served in senior military intel roles for both George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush administrations and can boast a highly decorated service record. So his criticism of Trump from a military perspective carries both bipartisan and service weight that should make every American take notice.

Appearing on CNN New Day Monday morning, Clapper slammed the recent decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria and claiming that “ISIS has been defeated” in the war-ravaged nation. This decision led to a quick resignation by Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. Clapper sees Trump’s claim that he knows more about ISIS than his generals shows “appalling arrogance.”
