George W. Bush Defends Obama From Conservative Critics…
President Barack Obama has been criticized by conservatives who have expressed their frustration with his frequent golf outings. In an interview for the Golf Channel, former President George W. Bush called these criticisms unfounded. Saying that he is familiar with “the pressures of the job,” Bush added that he thought it was “good for the president to be out playing golf.”
“I see our president criticized for playing golf. I don’t. I think he ought to play golf,” Bush told Jimmy Roberts, host of Golf Channel’s In Play.
“Why’s that?” Roberts asked.
“Because I know what it’s like to be in the bubble,” Bush replied. “I know the pressures of the job, and to be able to get outside and play golf with some of your pals is important for the president. It does give you an outlet.”
“I think it’s good for the president to be out playing golf,” Bush concluded.
