If Republicans were looking for a bright spot in the Democrats the not-actually-nuclear “nuclear option,” George Will just found it. He argued that the “limiting principle” of the Democrats’ procedural change isn’t as limiting as they thought, and if the Republicans even barely manage to take the Senate in 2017, it would mean they’d have a pretty good shot of repealing Obamacare outright.
Will thought the Democrats didn’t exactly think this through, explaining that all the GOP needs is to hold onto the House for four years, get at least 51 seats in the Senate, and get their presidential nominee elected, and “they can repeal Obamacare,” because thanks to the move the Democrats took to change the filibuster, the new rule is “majorities should rule all the time.”
