George Zimmerman’s Wife to Katie Couric: He’s a ‘Ticking Time Bomb’ That ‘Snapped’

Shellie Zimmerman sat down with Katie Couric for an exclusive interview Thursday following her estranged husband George Zimmerman’s recent arrest for allegedly assaulting his new girlfriend. “It seems as if George is a ticking time bomb,” Couric said of the new allegations of violence. Shellie Zimmerman agreed.

“I certainly hope that there are no casualties, I hope that there’s no violence,” Zimmerman said, “but he does seem like a ticking time bomb. I know I’m certainly afraid. I just hope that he can get, maybe, the help that he needs to deal with his situation, and that no one else will be hurt.

In another clip from the interview, Shellie Zimmerman described how her husband has changed since she first married him in 2007. At the beginning of their marriage, she said they were “great friends” and she thought he was a “wonderful person.”

But in the time since, she said it seems like “something snapped in his spirit” and made him behave “like a monster.”

In a previous interview with Good Morning America, Shellie Zimmerman explained that she had decided to divorce her husband after he was acquitted for the killing of Trayvon Martin because even though she stood by him during the trial he was a “selfish” person who only cared about himself. “In my opinion, he feels more invincible,” she said in the September interview. “I just think he’s making some reckless decisions.”
