Geraldo Rivera told Fox News Wednesday afternoon that Bill Clinton had “deserted” President Barack Obama in his interview yesterday calling for changes in the Affordable Care Act, a deliberate attempt to maneuver presumptive 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton away from the troubled healthcare law.
“When Bill Clinton desserts Barack Obama, you know things are grim,” Rivera said. “He was appointed by the president the Secretary of Explaining Stuff in 2012. He defended the president’s Affordable Health Care Act. And now Bill Clinton is suggesting that the president has to keep his word…Bill Clinton says even if it takes a change in the law, we have to honor that commitment. And I submit to you that it would take a change in the law.”
Co-host Bill Hemmer pointed out that Democratic polling leads had all but disappeared in the last two weeks.
“That toxicity is why Bill Clinton abandoned the president,” Rivera said. “He is looking to his wife’s prospective candidacy. He doesn’t want her to be taken down, as Democrats appear to be headed toward a disaster in 2014. This thing is going to last well until 2014. He wants to divorce Hillary from the debacle of Obamacare.”
“Not literally divorce Hillary,” co-host Alisyn Camerota pointed out.
