Gingrich Hits Bannon Over His ‘War’ With GOP: When We Fought Nazis, We Didn’t Start By Fighting Britain
On Tuesday night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich continued his criticisms of Steve Bannon for challenging nearly every Republican incumbent senator in the 2018 elections.
Sean Hannity told Gingrich that he was siding with Bannon in the sense that “if Mitch McConnell can’t get the job done,” then he “needs to go.”
“Everybody [Bannon] is talking about voted to repeal Obamacare. Everybody he’s talking about is gonna vote to cut taxes. Everybody he’s talking about voted for every single Trump judge,” Gingrich responded. “Bannon is suggesting, and he said so himself, that he’s gonna ‘wage war’ — against who? Against Republicans. You know, when we fought Nazi Germany, we didn’t start by trying to fight Britain.”
Gingrich called Bannon challenging every GOP senator (except Ted Cruz) an “absurdity.”
Hannity defended Bannon, saying that they want Republicans to “get their bleep together and do their job.” Gingrich then suggested to invite him on to have them debate the issue.
“That would be fun,” Gingrich added. “That would be quite the evening.”
