Gingrich Tells RNC Audience They ‘Misunderstood’ Cruz, Pushes Hard for Trump in Speech
One of the first things Newt Gingrich did during his RNC speech tonight was to furiously turn the tide after Ted Cruz refused to endorse Donald Trump and everyone lost their minds.
He told the audience they “understood” what Cruz said. Cruz had, rather than endorsing Trump, told people to vote their conscience and choose candidates who will uphold constitutional principles.
Gingrich extrapolated that to say that “there is only one candidate in this election who will uphold the constitution,” Donald Trump. The audience wildly applauded.
Gingrich moved on to push hard for Trump and declare that he will keep America safe from its enemies. He took shots at the media, denounced radical Islam, and invoked 9/11 before saying “the dangers are even greater” today.
He said that Trump would finally “restore law & order.”
Oh, there’s one more thing:
Newt's prepared remarks said, "Senator Ted Cruz in particular made the key point that we need to elect the Trump-Pence Republican ticket."
