Glenn Beck Accuses Fareed Zakaria Of Being An “Out And Out America Basher”
On Glenn Beck’s television show yesterday, he brought up one of his favorite pieces of literature, Cass Sunstein’s 2008 essay on conspiracy theorists (PDF) which lists ways the government might combat them. One suggestion advises the government to “hire credible private parties to engage in counterspeech.” On today’s radio show, Beck told us who one of these private parties might be; none other than Fareed Zakaria!
Now, Beck and Zakaria have had their little spats before. A few months ago, Zakaria took umbrage with Beck’s assertion that 10% of Muslims are terrorists. However, Zakaria really got on Glenn Beck’s bad side this weekend with his interview with perennial enemy of Beck (or Beckemy), George Soros. Beck responded to the interview thusly:
“Now you have people like Zakaria, Fareed Zakaria, who’s just an out and out America basher. Here’s a guy who came up against me. What a surprise, now, that he’s had two interviews with George Soros. And he’s one of the useful idiots who’s being used by the Left to come against me.”
Also in the clip, Beck accused Soros of “smelling like sausage and cigarrettes” which, in my opinion, is more damning than twelve chalkboards worth of sinister connections.
