I feel like there was a time when seeing a guy wearing a full colonial costume and joking around on Glenn Beck would have been fairly par in the course. However, with all the Perfect Storms and Arab Springs that Beck has talked up in recent months, it seems like wacky flights of fancy have mostly been left by the wayside. With each additional chalkboard, moments of lightness seemed more and more rare. So, when Beck was suddenly bantering with a ridiculous Founding Father facsimile, we had to take notice.
The Colonial in question was Pat Gray and, really, he and Beck were just recycling a bit from today’s radio show (a place where, perhaps due to Gray and additional co-host Stu Burguiere, humor still abounds) with an added costume element. And, of course, the whole thing was really just a stealth advertisement for Beck’s new book (how is it that media figures can host multiple TV and radio shows and still find time to write more books in a year than most people read?). And, sure, the bit wasn’t exactly hilarious, but still, everyone seemed to be having quite a bit of fun and, with Beck starting a whole network of his own, it’s nice to see the guy still knows how.
