The Blaze radio host Glenn Beck revealed on Monday that he deeply regrets giving Mitt Romney the gift he gave him when the former Massachusetts governor ran for president. Beck revealed that he gave Romney a rare, first-edition copy of President George Washington‘s farewell address for which he never even received a thank you.
“I was trying to cement in his mind, ‘You have run an honorable race,'” Beck said said, explaining the rationale behind the gift. “‘I don’t agree with you on everything. But please understand the time that we’re in, and if you win, you have to be George Washington.'”
Beck said that the farewell address lists everything that he believes is “wrong with the country” right now. He said he gave the copy to Romney’s son explaining that this was his personal copy.
“They’re really rare and expensive, and I never even got a thank-you note,” Beck said, shaking his head. “Never even got a thank-you note. Pisses me off to this day.”
“And the more I hear about Mitt Romney, the more it pisses me off,” Beck added.
