Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert yesterday basically threatened GOP leadership that he won’t retire if they don’t get tougher on the Iran deal.
At issue here is the concern from some Republicans that the Iran deal should be viewed as a treaty that needs to be ratified by Congress. And Gohmert wants Republicans in Congress to deal with it as such.
If they do, he told KLTV yesterday, “I’ll give them the only thing I have that they want, and that’s me not to run for Congress again.”
He warned that if the GOP continues to simply voice disapproval of the Iran deal without actually doing anything to fight it, “I will be the biggest pain in the neck, and other places, of the Republican leadership until we get leadership that will follow the Constitution.”
Gohmert is one of the many Republicans in D.C. today attending a rally against the Iran deal.
