Good Morning America Interviews Houston Woman Stranded on Roof: ‘Please Help Us, I’m Scared’

Good Morning America conducted a dramatic interview with a Houston woman stranded on her roof due to the catastrophic flooding caused by Harvey which slammed into east Texas over the weekend.

Aishia Nelson joined the show by video phone from the rooftop of her apartment building in downtown Houston, where she was stranded after the building flooded.

“It’s not going good for us,” Nelson said. “Across the street the building is caving in, and there’s water everywhere and we have nowhere to go.”

“And I have all my children, I’ve lost everything, I have nothing but the clothes on my back. I just want to get out,” she continued.

Nelson then flipped her camera around to show the street completely flooded with water, submerging cars.

“The water is moving fast,” Nelson said.

She said that her family tried to leave after the water flooded the streets on Sunday, and around 30 people were forced onto the roof of the apartment building, where they remain stranded.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked for Nelson’s address so that they could try and send help.

Nelson then said she had come to Houston after she was caught in Hurricane Katrina.

“Please help us, I’m scared,” Nelson finally said.
