GOP Guest Accuses Dems of War on Women-ing Wasserman-Schultz, Panel Groans
GOP strategist Ana Navarro was nearly run off the of ABC’s This Week Sunday morning after she linked the “tired point” of the “War on Women” to the whisper campaign against DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL).
“You want to talk about war on women, why don’t we talk about the war that Democrats waged this week against the woman who heads the DNC?” Navarro said, reprising the “War on Women? What about ________?!?!?” GOP counter-talking point. “You saw all sorts of gossip and you saw all sorts of innuendo against Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.”
This is fallout from a Politico article on Wasserman-Schultz, in which she is seen as losing Democratic support at a crucial moment for the party. Among the accusations, lobbed anonymously of course, is that Wasserman-Schultz tried to get the DNC to cover the cost of her wardrobe, a charge she denied.
“If a Republican had gone out and talked about how somebody wanted to spend all this money on clothes and say all the gossipy things they said about Debbie Wasserman-Schultz — with the White House’s fingerprints all over it — you all would be screaming bloody murder,” Navarro said.
