GOP Rep. Kinzinger Calls Trump Video ‘Disturbing’: ‘The President Can’t Speak for Fallen American Soldiers’

Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R- IL) expressed his outrage today at President Donald Trump‘s decision to withdraw from Syria, but the President’s new video tonight defending that decision set him off as well.

Trump tweeted out video in which he says it’s time for soldiers to come home, claims again that “we have won against ISIS” (Kinzinger tweeted that’s just not true), and even invoked the memory of fallen soldiers to heavily suggest they would agree with him.

Fox News’ Martha MacCallum played the video before bringing on Kinzinger, who immediately said, “That video’s very disturbing, I’ve got to be honest with you.”

“For the President to point to the sky and say ‘they want this,’ inferring those that have fallen, the President can’t speak for fallen American soldiers,” he continued. “I’m not sure the fallen American soldiers want us to declare victory against a foe we haven’t fully defeated yet. That’s disappointing.”

And like other Republicans blasting the decision have done today, he invoked the similarities with Barack Obama and Iraq.
