Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger has said for months he has wanted to be able to support his party’s nominee, but today he said he absolutely cannot bring himself to back or vote for Donald Trump.
Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran, told Wolf Blitzer he was appalled by Trump’s attacks on the family of Captain Humayan Khan, saying that Trump is “beginning to cross a lot of red lines of the unforgivable in politics.”
He’s not one of those Republicans who plans on resorting to a Hillary Clinton vote, but he is frankly alarmed by Trump’s lack of knowledge about foreign affairs, especially when it comes to Russia.
Kinzinger even went so far as to say that Vladimir Putin is trying to “manipulate” Trump and Trump’s falling for it.
He said if other Republicans want to back Trump, that’s fine, but he’s too concerned about how much Trump is destroying the Republican party and “I’m an American before I’m a Republican.”
