GOP Sen. Coburn: ‘There are Certain Shows on Fox I Can’t Watch’

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) cannot watch some of the programming on Fox News because, he said, they’re “totally not fair and totally not balanced.”

Coburn made the comment Wednesday at a town hall gathering at Tulsa Community College, the Southeast campus. He said his own personal media diet is mixed and includes the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Of the three main cable news outlets CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, Coburn said “the truth is somewhere in between the three.”

“There are certain shows on Fox I can’t watch,” Coburn said. “Because they’re totally not fair and totally not balanced. I want all the information if which I can make the best decision.”

He added: “The real problem is we’ve lost the professionalism of journalism.”

In January, Coburn announced that he will retire from Congress at the end of its current session, which is at the start of 2015.

Coburn is well known to be a fan of as well as a regular guest on MSNBC Morning Joe
