GOP Sen. on Seized Navy Boats: Iran Likes to ‘Humiliate’ Obama

cottonSenator Tom Cotton reacted to the Iranian seizure of two U.S. Navy boats and 10 sailors by tearing into President Obama on CNN tonight.

Cotton told Wolf Blitzer this “openly hostile” action is exactly what he and others said would happen if the president attempted to pursue a nuclear deal with Iran. He said, “The White House tonight is a hot bed of cold feet.”

The U.S. government is saying it was a mechanical failure on the part of the boats and Iran will let them go, but Cotton isn’t so sure, remarking on the timing as anything but coincidental.

He called it “humiliating” for the United States, which is exactly what Cotton believes the ayatollahs want. He said they are trying to get “maximum leverage and inflict massive humiliation” on the United States, and this won’t be the end of it.

At another point in the interview, he said that military force should be on the table for potential retaliation.
