Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid tore into Donald Trump and Steve Bannon in a tough Senate floor address this afternoon. Republican John Cornyn spoke next and called out Reid for his “tirade.”
Reid said that Trump must do more to assure millions of Americans they have nothing to fear under his presidency and that he can start by rescinding the hire of Steve Bannon.
Cornyn said that Reid’s speech “does nothing to contribute to the healing of our country” after the election, and he said for Democrats to criticize Trump and anyone he picks for his administration makes them look like “sore losers.”
He declared that Reid is contributing to the “coarsening” of dialogue and even questioned whether what he did was in violation of Senate rules on terms of debate.
Cornyn concluded that Reid is just “pour[ing] gasoline on the fire.”
