Steve Schmidt Trashes Ted Cruz For ‘Vandalism’ of Discourse: ‘If There Is a Bigger Fraud…’

Former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt, who left the GOP earlier this year, trashed Senator Ted Cruz on MSNBC this afternoon hours before the end of the long race between Cruz and Beto O’Rourke.

Schmidt said the Republicans worried about a “massacre” at the polls should have seen this coming. If some kind of blue wave happens tonight in a clear “repudiation of Trumpism,” he said Republicans made a deliberate choice to stay quiet about much of the President’s words and actions.

He proceeded to bring up two key races that Democrats are hoping turn out well––Andrew Gillum in Florida and Beto O’Rourke in Texas––to say that “every superhero has to have the right nemesis.”

And as far as Schmidt is concerned, O’Rourke lucked out:

“If there is a bigger fraud, if there is someone who has done more vandalizing of our civic discourse, short of Donald Trump, it’s Ted Cruz!”

He trashed Cruz for his presidential aspirations and for when “he shut down the government on some nonsensical crusade.”

And, of course, he brought up how Cruz has embraced Trump after being the target of so many Trump attacks. Schmidt also had some praise for O’Rourke sharing a positive message on the campaign trail.
