Graham: Trump May ‘Go Down’ Because He Can’t Stop ‘Inappropriately Talking About’ Investigation

Senator Lindsey Graham is steadily growing more and more frustrated with how President Trump won’t just stop talking about an ongoing investigation.

A few days ago, Graham actually said “help us help you” and pleaded with the president, “Every time you tweet, it makes it harder on all of us who are trying to help you.”

Well, on CBS’ Face the Nation today, while making it clear to John Dickerson that what Trump said to James Comey does not rise to the level of obstruction of justice, the president’s continued public remarks make this whole thing more and more difficult:

“Here’s what’s so frustrating for Republicans like me. You may be the first president in history to go down because you can’t stop inappropriately talking about an investigation that if you just were quiet, would clear you. It’s frustrating for me to want to help a man who I think will do big things no other Republican would do, like immigration.”

Graham has gone from being a harsh critic of Trump’s on the campaign trail to saying in April that when it comes to Trump’s foreign policy, “I am like the happiest dude in America right now.”

He also told Dickerson that he wants to look into what Comey said about Jeff Sessions and Loretta Lynch, to see whether “the Attorney General’s office has become a political office.”
