Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson spoke out on ABC’s 20/20 tonight about past sexual harassment she’s faced over the course of her career.
She recalled when she was crowned Miss America and a female reporter “really tried to take me down at my first press conference” with “demeaning” questions about who’s on U.S. currency and whether she’s had sex.
As for the harassment she’s faced, Carlson opened up about an incident early on in her TV career when a photographer mic’ed her up only to later ask her “questions about how I felt when he had to touch my private parts.”
She was visibly shaken afterwards and said that it’s always a fear with women in the workplace that if they speak out, “you fear that it’s gonna be your fault.”
Carlson did not directly address anything that happened while at Fox News. When asked when she was prepared to take on someone as powerful as Roger Ailes, she responded, “I wish I could answer that but I can’t.”
