Gretchen Carlson: Trump Should Show People His ‘Words Are True’ by Appointing More Women

Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson appeared on CNN for a frank discussion with Carol Costello about her career going forward, the treatment of women, and President-elect Donald Trump.

Costello told Carlson, “I think women once thought we were all on the same page. But some women, with the election of Donald Trump, don’t think that way anymore.”

Carlson pointed out that a lot of women did vote for Trump and that Trump should be backing up his words with actions:

“They think that, you know, for them, he brings a bright future. I can’t comment on whether or not that’s right or wrong for society. But what I can say is that he has said that he loves women and that he believes in women. And I challenge him to those comments. I challenge him to then put women in high ranking positions. Show America that your words are true.”

Costello brought up the past language Trump has used about women. Carlson did not directly address what Trump has said, while still making it clear using language such as Trump has in the past is “unacceptable.”

She did add, “We’ve elected other presidents who also had major flaws. So I take it as an opportunity, as a learning experience.”
