Gun Store Owner the Orlando Gunman Bought From Speaks Out: ‘Do Some Truthful Reporting’
Ed Henson is the owner of the gun store where Orlando gunman Omar Mateen purchased the two weapons––a handgun and an AR-15––he used in the horrific nightclub shooting Saturday night, and Henson spoke out today to clear up a few questions about the sales.
At the press conference this afternoon, Henson said they performed a full background check and Mateen was cleared. This presumably happened after the FBI interviewed Mateen on suspicion of terrorism three separate times.
Henson explained how the gun laws work and Florida, said his store doesn’t sell body armor, and told reporters the gunman was “vaguely” familiar to him, but he didn’t know him personally.
He did implore the assembled reporters, “I just hope that you do some truthful reporting.”
