Rex Tillerson is denying the report saying he once considered resigning as Secretary of State, but if Hallie Jackson is any indication, NBC News is prepared to stand by its reporting.
In a surprise press conference on Wednesday, Tillerson promoted the Trump Administration’s agenda while denying there was ever an intervention to convince him to stay on his post. Trump went on a Twitter rampage against NBC before the presser, and by the time it concluded, the president demanded “an apology to AMERICA!” for the “fake news” report.

As MSNBC reacted to Tillerson’s comments, Stephanie Ruhle defended the report by noting the current dynamic between Tillerson and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley. Ruhle also highlighted how Tillerson did not explicitly deny the part of the report which talked about how he once called the president a “f*cking moron.”
Jackson followed up by acknowledging Trump’s tweet and saying “NBC News will not be issuing an apology to America” as the president demanded. Carol Lee also chimed in to defend the report’s veracity, and she noted that it would be “problematic” for Trump if he lost another cabinet member so soon after the resignation of Tom Price.
