On Friday night, Sean Hannity kicked off his show by slamming the media and Democrats over their handing of the potential government shutdown.
“They want to create a climate of fear and panic that is all based on lies,” Hannity claimed. “The left––they’re not telling you the truth about what is actually going to happen if at midnight tonight, the government quote ‘shuts down.’ It never really shuts down.”
The Fox News host ripped Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats are “putting illegal immigrants before you, the American people” even though DACA doesn’t expire until March. He also went after CNN for their coverage leading up to what he called the “Schumer Shutdown.”
“Of course, Fake News CNN, the Sh-hole Network, well they’re taking the lead in launching a false shutdown narrative to try and smear the president and Republicans.”
Hannity praised OMB Director Mick Mulvaney for “owning” CNN Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta during their fiery exchange regarding who’s to blame for a government shutdown.
“Now Fake News CNN’s’ Jim Acosta, he’s either lying to you or he doesn’t understand that if you’re in the Senate, you actually need 60 votes to break a filibuster. You paying attention, Jim?” Hannity mocked.
He went on to target Schumer as well as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for “being hypocrites” with their rhetoric condemning Republicans for the government shutdown back in 2013. He then played clips of Pelosi calling Republicans “legislative arsonists” and Schumer calling it “governmental chaos” if they pushed for immigration ahead of a government shutdown.
“The hypocrisy’s stunning. That’s what they are doing!” Hannity reacted. “These people have no shame and apparently they haven’t actually figured out that most of what they say just five years ago is actually on videotape and just like the media, Democrats have zero credibility on the issue.”
